Gladys Idolia Trotter was born in June of 1912 to William and Emma Shephard. She was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she also attended grade and high school. She married Pearl E. Trotter on June 11, 1930 and in 1943 she joined the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. Following her service in the WAAC, Gladys, her mother and Pearl moved to Washington State. In Washington she worked at Woolworth’s, Miller’s and the Department of Licensing. She retired in 1975.
In the early morning of March 31, 2010 Gladys joined her beloved husband in Heaven. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate her life at First Christian Church (701 Franklin Street, Olympia) on Tuesday, March 6, 2010 beginning at 1:00pm.
