There are so many things I could say about my uncle. He was funny, kind, caring. The list could go on and on. But I know two things my uncle was passionate about: his love for the Lord, and his singing. Greg and I would talk about our passion for music and singing everytime my family drove up from Yakima to Olympia. Greg is now up in Heaven catching up with his father and his brother Kent.
Greg was there supporting Kent when he gave his life back to the Lord before he passed. Greg had a special gift not only for singing, but also for being a friend. He liked to make people laugh with funny stories from his childhood and college years. One story he told me was when he drank all the soda out of a vending machine while visiting his brother in college. I think he ended up regretting that decision the next day. Greg had so many obstacles thrown his way during his lifetime and he conquered them all with his strong faith in the Lord. From getting diabetes, to losing weight, to having amputations, Greg persevered through all of those obstacles in his life. He never questioned why he had to overcome these obstacles, he put his trust and faith in the Lord and said "your will be done."
He had such a zest for life and was always up to going out to dinner with his family. Every Christmas and Thanksgiving, he would take his mother out for a holiday meal so she wouldn't have to spend the holidays alone. Greg was so passionate about everything he did in life, but I know his greatest joy was being loved by his friends and family.
Greg is preceeded in death by his grandparents, Doris and Stanley Brown, his father, Roy Everett Kunkler, and his brother Kent.
He is survived by his brothers Todd, Scott, and Mark, his mother Ellen, and his many nieces and nephews.
I know Heaven is having a huge party welcoming Greg into his new home. He is using that wonderful voice of his to sing with the angels, and sing for the Lord. Heaven has truly gained a wonderful person that has touched the lives of so many people here on earth.
Heaven gained a new angel with a wonderful voice on October 23, 2018. We will all miss him and his enthusiasm, friendship, and comfort here on earth.
Greg, we love and miss you so much and you will never be forgotten.
Until we meet again in Heaven, my dear uncle and friend.
