Hope was born to Claire and Mabel Hinkson on August 21, 1921 in Superior Nebraska, where she grew up and graduated from Superior High School.
She worked for Montgomery Ward and later for Southgate Super Market. After Southgate, she went to work for the State of Washington Department of Game and retired from the Employment Security Department.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needlecraft, antiquing, travel with Gresham, and “people watching”. Hope and Gresham traveled to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, and all around the United States. She was also a collector of “knick-knacks” and enjoyed showing and sharing them with family and friends.
She is survived by her second husband Gresham Pace whom she married in 1987. Hope’s first husband Alvin “Abbie” Wellman died in 1963. Hope is also survived by her daughter Betty (Wellman) Schoth, brother Don Hinkson, two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hope’s marriage to Gresham brought her much happiness and three new daughters into her life, Linda Rhodes, Judy Unwin, and Cathy Venable, as well as seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Her life was truly blessed and she will be missed by all those she loved and who loved her.
She will be buried at Mills and Mills Memorial Park off Littlerock Road in Tumwater. A celebration of Hope’s life will be held for family and close friends.
