Originally from Romania, Ilinca was an associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at Rice University. She had a lifelong love of learning that she shared with her friends, colleagues, and students. She loved to travel and enjoy nature with her friends. She enjoyed classical music and the occasional mystery novel mixed in with her nonfiction reading. She died peacefully at a friend’s home in Washington State, shortly after receiving the Anointing of the Sick from Father Jim Lee of Saint Michael Catholic Church in Olympia. She is missed by a multitude of grieving friends and family around the world.
Ilinca’s funeral Mass will be at 12:00 noon Pacific time on Friday, March 12th in Olympia, and will be streamed and available afterwards on the “SaintMichaelParish” YouTube channel for everyone that loved her. Flowers may be delivered Friday morning to Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in downtown Olympia.
Mass will be on Friday, March 12th, 2021 at Saint Michael Parish in Olympia WA at noon. The burial will follow at the Mills and Mills Cemetery in Tumwater right after the Funeral Mass.
