She was born in Portland, Oregon January 1, 1943 to Charley and Naomi Illeane Smith
.
She graduated Yelm High School in 1960, shortly after graduation she married Harold Leroy Merz on September 27, 1960 in Marion County Indiana. Her hobbies were reading, TV, birds and photography.
Preceding her in death are her parents and her son Jerry Merz. Janice is survived by her husband Harold Merz of Yelm, Washington; Glenn (Denise) Merz and granddaughter Jessica Merz both of Tumwater, Washington. A brother Lewis (Jean) Smith of Arizona and a sister Sharleen Lugenbeel of Lacey, Washington, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, Friday September 4, 2015 at 1pm
