Janie was born September 18th, 1959 and passed away last Friday, May 3rd. From the outset of her life she was the kind of person that made a difference. According to her mom, Ginny, “Janie was always the leader … the head of the pack.”

So how does one begin to summarize the life of such an incredible woman? Janie just loved life and touched the lives and hearts of so many along the way of growing her family and her business. She was the kind of person that lived life on life’s terms and owned her part in every aspect of her and her children’s lives. Janie built Easter Financial Services, Inc. from the ground up one client at a time, resulting in a thriving insurance and financial services practice. Her clients loved her for who she was and respected her for the support and guidance she provided. As a Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow and Registered Investment Advisor she brought a level of professionalism to her business that set her apart and gave her clients comfort. Her professional memberships and affiliations included the Capital Medical Center Board of Trustees for over 15 years, Rotary Club of Lacey, Capital Tips Club, Mountain View Women’s Bible Study, KMS Financial Advisors, Pacific Advisors, Tru-Quest Life Coaching and she was an Organo Gold Distributor. She was not just a member of these organizations … she was a participant and one that was loved and admired by all that knew her.

Janie was a giver spending her business and personal life helping others. She had a wonderful free spirit and terrific sense of humor … always with the right joke or the right line at the right time with a cleverness and wit that always brought smiles. Those that knew her will remember how she would break out in song sparked by a word or line while conversing that mirrored the topic of conversation, it was simply uncanny. But what Janie loved most were her children, Robert and Sarah! She never missed a baseball game, a volleyball match an out of town tournament, nothing … she made them all. She devoted her life to her kids and it shows. Both have grown up to be well rounded, honest and responsible young adults with great senses of humor, just like Mom. Above all else, Janie prayed and wished for their individual success in their respective life’s path.

She is survived by her soul mate and very best friend Harry Dell, who never left her side throughout her extended battle with cancer and her loving children Robert and Sarah. Two children with their feet well planted and solid spiritual foundations thanks to Mom’s leadership. Robert is finishing his sophomore year at Oregon State University with studies focused in criminal psychology and plans to be an FBI profiler while Sarah is excited about beginning her freshman year this fall at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego with plans to teach elementary education. Janie is also survived by her parents Dave and Ginny Burfield of Chaska, MN, sister Debbie (Tom) Stuewe, niece Kate Stuewe, nephew Matt Stuewe, brother Michael Burfield and nephew ‘little’ David. Janie is also survived by her sister-in-law Gretchen (Rick) Haver, nieces Christie Gordon and Rebecca Ford and aunts Carolyn Burfield, Darlene (Bob) Kocks and cousins Lucas Burfield, Kim Walsh, Lisa Gauvin and Tracy Long. She was pre-deceased by her grandparents Lyle and Gladys Burfield, Frank and Florence Henke and her uncle, Loring Burfield.

A special thanks to Dr. Joseph Ye and his team at Vista Oncology, Dr. Randy Sorum and his team at Capital Radiation and the entire nursing and treatment staff at Capital Medical Center, primarily the 3rd floor, for the exceptional treatment and service provided Janie throughout her fight. Donations can be made in Janie’s honor to the American Cancer Society.

It is with such sadness that I hear of Janie's passing. Janie B. - she was a bestie – a favorite childhood friend. I will always cherish the time we spent at St. John's: cheerleading and basketball, the yearbook and science fairs, boys and pranks, singing and the Christmas programs at church. We were sisters through it all. Janie had a wicked sense of humor and a fun sense of adventure. She was smart and beautiful, both inside and out. Janie will always hold a dear place in my heart. To Janie's family, I pray the Lord grants you the strength to get through this difficult time.

Janie had been our financial adviser for many many years. More than that, she became my friend. She was one of the most genuine people ive ever had the pleasure to meet. She was professional, coupled with a dynamite sense of humor. She was a sensitive as well as a caring friend. She would always have a great "joke" to tell me, and we'd sit there hysterically laughing, and when id TRY to remember it to tell OTHERS, i would always mess it up! I will forever miss Janie. She made an impact on me and my life. She never failed to look out for my best interest. She will be forever missed. A bright light burned our, far far to soon.

Virginia and Dave --- Joyce called me to tell me that you lost your Janie. I am so very sorry! Although I don't believe I ever met Janie, I surely knew of her because she and Marty were so close in age --- and I heard her name often when I'd come home for a visit. My thoughts and warm wishes are with you. --- Marcia Maguire

Dave, Ginny & Family - I'm so sorry for your loss. K-12th grade we had a lot of great memories. I was able to see Janie a few years ago at St John's while she was visiting. She had not changed since high school, still had that big smile. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

I didn't know Janie, but can tell by the entries I've read, that she was a wonderful woman, mom, daughter, friend, etc. & she will be greatly missed. Words cannot express the sadness that I felt when I heard about the loss of such a wonderful woman. I do feel extremely blessed though to have had Janie in my life. I was a client of Janie's for over 10 years and Janie was a client of mine (she helped me make sense of my finances and I helped her make sense of the computers at her office). I always looked forward to our consultations together because the conversation always started off with us talking about our families, having a few laughs, and then it was down to business. This is exactly how I will remember her. She was so proud of her family. Laughing and enjoying life was very important to her. She was a very smart and accomplished business professional. Thank you Janie for making the lives of everyone you touched even better.

The Gnan family has many fun and fond memories of family vacations with the Burfields. Janie was the life of the party.
Heaven became a much more fun place when Janie arrived there.
My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. God's Peace and Blessings
