Jayne Bade, wife, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully January 27 at age 95. She was born in Olympia, WA August 17, 1925 to parents Clarence and Mabel Redman. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1944, and on November 24, 1946 was married to Harold Bade.
Together they bought 80 acres near Littlerock and worked hard to turn it into a working farm and a place to raise their family. Jayne’s passion for caring for animals and farm life kept her happily living and working on that property until her death. Her knowledge of animals and enjoyment of people were of great help during the many years she worked in the office at Deschutes Animal Clinic. Jayne grew up loving to have and ride horses and continued that practice until well into her 80’s. She was a lifetime member of the Capital Riders chapter of Back Country Horsemen.
She enjoyed motorcycle riding as well, and she and Harold went on many motorcycle trips around Washington and Canada. She loved riding her motorcycle to work each day and did so until her retirement. She was a skilled gardener, and at age 95 still raised a large garden and canned and froze its bounty in abundance. Jayne was an avid knitter and often could be found knitting on a sweater or afghan for someone she deemed deserving. She was hard working, kind and generous, always ready to help anyone in need. She approached life with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new things. Jayne loved her family, friends, animals, and farm life.
She is survived by her sister, Betty (age 99), son Gary (Liza), daughter Janis (Richard) and grandson Dustin. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold (January 27, 2001) and infant grandson Casey. Jayne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of life will take place at a later date when it is safe to gather.
