Jeanette was born on May 23, 1937, in Black Springs, Arkansas, to Owen Dustin and Elna Marie Butler. She was the oldest of four children, followed by Marshall (Max), Owen, and Connie. The family moved to Washington State when she was a small child. Jeanette attended McCleary and Elma schools, graduating from Olympia High School in 1955. On October 14, 1955, she married Leon Elliott, moving to Olympia to begin married life.
She was employed as a keypunch operator by Panorama City, and later worked in the clerical field with the Department of Social and Health
Services, retiring as a clerical supervisor in May 1999. Jeanette and Leon were active members of VFW Post #318 where Jeanette served as an officer in the Ladies Auxiliary and Cooties. Jeanette and Leon loved to travel, many times they set off across the country in their motorhome, often gone for months at a time. In addition, they bought a small vacation property on a lake in Mason County, where they often spent weekends and holidays with family and friends.
Leon preceded Jeanette in death in July 2008. Since that time, Jeanette enjoyed spending time with her children and siblings, often staying at the lake property over long weekends. She and her sister, Connie, were frequent
travelers on senior bus trips to casinos throughout the country.
Jeanette is survived by her son, Mike, his wife, Vicki, and their family: Steven, his wife Dee, and their daughter Mana; Ken, his wife Amanda, and their children Austin, Ariel, Jayden, Eli, Isak, and Adeline; Brian, his wife Hilary, and their children Everly and Evan.
Jeanette was saddened to lose her son, Bill, in 2011 and Bill’s son, Shawn, in 2003. She is survived by Bill’s son, Tony, his wife Lindsey, their daughters Montanna Conwell and Allie.
Jeanette is also survived by her daughter Mary; her daughter Patty and husband Doug, their daughter Kassandra Henry,
her husband Dave, and their daughter Rowyn.
The family has honored Jeanette’s wishes for cremation and internment with her husband. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Elliott, Doug Samuelson, Tony Elliott, Steven Elliott, Ken Elliott, Brian Elliott, Dave Henry, and Darrell Prowse.
