

Jerry N. Haynes III passed away on July 17th, 2025 at his home in Yelm, Washington. He was born on July 16, 1968 in Munich, Germany to his loving parents Gloria M. Taylor and Jerry N. Haynes Jr. The family lived in Munich until 1975, Jerry was the youngest of three siblings. During part of this time Jerry’s father, Jerry Jr., was deployed in Vietnam and returned in 1970.
The family then moved to Ayer, Massachusetts. Jerry graduated from Ayer High School in 1986. He also attended Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington where he received his associate’s degree in Electronics and communications systems.
Jerry was married on March 1, 1996 to Rebecca Carr in Port Saint Joe, Florida and became a father to Jeri D. Haynes.
Jerry was married again on May 17, 1999 to Linette Schmidt in Savannah, Georgia. He became a father to another beautiful child Olivia K. Haynes.
During this time Jerry served our country in the United States Army from which he retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7) in 2016 after 28 years of service. He earned many awards and commendations including: The Bronze Star, The Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), and the Army Good Conduct Medal, among numerous other awards. During this time Jerry completed tours of duty in Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar.
After leaving the US Army Jerry was employed with the City of Federal Way where he was an IT and networking specialist. He enjoyed working with his colleagues and aiding the city in new ways to progress within IT. This allowed him the chance to work in new places around Federal Way and be outside often.
As a child Jerry and his brother Tony played in all types of sports while being coached by their dad. He enjoyed taking things apart and learning about how they worked. Jerry was also a Boy Scout, as well. These translated into passions later in life. When not working Jerry enjoyed technology, computers, video games, photography, sketching, hunting, and shooting. Jerry led a life uniquely characterized by his inquisitiveness, curiosity, intelligence, generosity, and creativity. Jerry was known for being unassuming, but when you got to know him, you would see his qualities with clarity.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents Portia and Leo Taylor, and Annie B. and Jerry N. Haynes Sr; his daughter Jeri D Haynes; and his sister Sandra Clements.
Jerry is survived by: his daughter Olivia Haynes of Spring, Texas; mother, Gloria Taylor of Sierra Vista, Arizona; father, Jerry N. Haynes Jr. (Brenda) of Boston Massachusetts; brother, Anthony F. Haynes of Leominster Massachusetts; nieces, Cassandra Clements of Pleasantville, New Jersey and Susanna Haynes of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; as well as Olivia’s Mother Linette Schmidt-Haynes of Spring, Texas. Jerry also leaves a host of other relatives and loved ones too numerous to mention by name.
A Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held on Wednesday, July 30th at 11AM at Mills and Mills Funeral Home of Tumwater, Washington. All are welcome to attend.
The family expressed their deep appreciation for all who have reached out. During a time such as this we are reminded how much our family, friends, and community mean to us. Your sympathy and kind words will be remembered. Jerry will be deeply missed.
