Sammy & family,

I am deeply saddened by the news of Jim's passing. He will be truly missed.

Jim was devoted to his family and leaves a tremendous legacy for them and the citizens of Lacey and beyond who benefit from his work. If you drive throughout the city of Lacey, evidence of Jim's work abounds. The parks were developed in collaboration with Lacey's elected officials and leadership team and, most importantly, with citizen input. He made sure citizens had an opportunity to weigh in on each park's vision and design. The award-winning Thurston County Regional Athletic Complex is a work of art--done in collaboration with Thurston County.

Jim was also a master of recreational programming. Again, by listening carefully to citizens and partnering with other government agencies, he made sure facilities and programs were offered for the young and old, including those with handicapping conditions. He wanted to make sure folks from all walks of life had opportunities for leisure services.

Jim was passionate about the field of parks and recreation, he fulfilled his work with grit, determination and, most importantly, enjoyment. He was born to do this work. The citizens of Lacey were very fortunate to have someone of Jim's talent and caliber serving them for some 35 years.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Jim will be missed, but will never be forgotten.

I was very fortunate to have Jim as my first boss/co-worker at the Lacey Parks and Recreation . He was very passionate about providing leisure services to residents, and had FUN doing it! He made a tremendous positive impact to me when at Lacey which I carried through out my career. I was very sadden to hear of his passing and offer my sincere condolences to the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. J. D. Fouts
