John J. Arko

John James Arko John James Arko, 93, passed away May 10, 2018. He was born Aug. 26, 1924 in Toole, Utah.
John served in the Navy during WWII and while stationed at the Shelton Air Base, he met and married Millie, his wife of 74 years.
John was a hardworking carpenter by trade, but later he and Millie owned and operated the Maplebrook Tavern for 10 years and then the Purdy Canyon Restaurant in Shelton until his retirement in 1990. Upon returning to Olympia, he built the home he lived in to the end.
John was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Eagles.
He will be remembered by his sons as always being there to lend a hand. He is survived by his wife Millie; sons John (Cheryl) and Joe; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Donn.
Services will be held Thursday, May 24th at 1 p.m. at Mills & Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater.
