

John, or Big John or Tiny to his friends, was born on December 20th, 1949, to Norma and John Libert in New York. Big John joined the US Army, in July of 1968, and went on to serve 20 years. His time in the Army included service in Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Germany, Australia, Philippines, US- Ft Bragg, and retired while serving at US Fort Lewis McCord. He valued his time in the service highly and made lifelong memories, and friends while serving. As part of this service, he received a multitude of accomplishments, awards, and honors, including Jump Master, Non-commissioned officer certification, Paratrooper, Sharpshooter, Efficiency Honors, Fidelity Honors, and Honor for military merit.
After retiring from the Military, John joined the United States Postal Service and worked there for another 20 years, and loved being the Shop Steward and helping his coworkers. Big John enjoyed spending time with his wife, Terri Libert, traveling and spending time together, they also enjoyed watching and spending time with their grandchildren.
He was an active member of the Centralia Rifle Club and served as a board member.
He is survived by his two daughters, Angie Treptow, and Nicole Hopkins, his grandchildren Tyler Hopkins, Devin Treptow, Morgan Treptow, Isabella Hopkins, and his great-grandson, Dante Hopkins.
A service honoring the life of John Libert will be held on February 9th, 2024, at Mills & Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater, WA, at 2 pm.
