

We are sad to announce that Karen Marie Corr of Olympia, Washington, passed away on August 27, 2026. Karen was born on February 19, 1965 in St Louis, MO to her parents Charles and Donna (Skach) Corr. Karen was the middle of three children in the family.
She graduated from Grinnell College in 1986 with a major in biology. She went on to attend the School of Nursing at Vanderbilt University earning a Masters Degree and qualifications as a Nurse Practitioner. Karen worked in Minnesota for Little Brothers and volunteered to care for Cuban refugees in the US Naval Base at Guantanamo before settling in Tacoma, WA. Following this she had a long career in geriatric nursing with Dr. Richard Waltman, United Healthcare and Optum. Karen exceled in providing direct patient care, training incoming nurse practitioners and specialized in wound care management. When not working, Karen enjoyed gardening, traveling, various crafts, and reading.
Karen was the proud mother to Gillian Turnbull. Together they traveled the world and made their home in the Tacoma neighborhood of Proctor.
Karen is preceded in death by her grandparents; Sadie Sands, James Sands, Anthony Skach, John Corr, and Elizabeth Corr and uncle, John B. Corr.
She is survived by her Daughter, Gillian Turnbull; Parents Charles and Donna Corr; Siblings: Kevin (Karen) Corr and Susan (James) Fox; Nephews: Christopher Corr, Daniel Corr, Andrew Ramsey; and Niece Katherine (Christopher) Corr.
