Katherine was born on December 19th, 1935 in Glen Allan Mississippi to Joseph and Clara (Cowart) Heck. Because her father worked in construction they traveled a lot. She grew up in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia, and finally Plummer, Idaho where she graduated high school in 1954.
In December 1953 she married Hood Worthington Jr. in Plummer, Idaho. Together they had five children. She then married William P. Dickson in September 1989 making her the step-mother of his two daughters.
When William retired from Alaska Airlines in 1997, they moved to Winlock, Washington and subsequently to Centralia, Washington in 2006. They loved to travel and wintered in Yuma, Arizona for about 10 years.
Katherine was born with a birth defect and was then stricken with polio as a child. She always called this a "double whammy".
Katherine accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she was 9 years old at the Children's Rehab Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in the Spring of 1945,while floating on her back in a swimming pool, looking out upon snow covered daffodils. Her mother saw to it that she and her sister had a ride to Sunday School every week, even though her mother was unable to attend church regularly. Katherine didn't get serious about her faith until she was 20 years old and about to become a mother for the second time. She was baptized again in September of 1957 in a creek in Idaho. She always tried to be true to her faith in our Lord and Savior for all these many years and to raise her children in a Christian home. She tried to set a good example for them.
Katherine is preceded in death by her father Joseph Heck and her mother Clara Biggers, her grandfather Joseph Cowart, and grandmother Anna Cowart.
