Leola "Lee" Womack
August 28, 1927 – July 10, 2019
Leola (Lee) Fern Womack passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2019 at age 91 surrounded by her daughter and granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clint, in 2013 and this year by her brothers Elmer and Tom Parshall and sister Charlotte Kessler.
Her parents along with her sister (Charlotte), and brothers (Elmer and Tom) moved from her birthplace in Cleveland, Missouri to Olympia, Washington when she was young. After school, she worked until she met her future husband, Clint, at a dance. He took the dare to ask her to dance after she declined to dance with one of his friends. She accepted his invitation because he met her criteria of being 6’ tall and they were married three months later on December 27, 1946.
Mom was active in the Boston Harbor PTA and Boston Harbor Garden Club. She also was involved in church and garden clubs when they lived in Mukilteo, Washington. Clint and Lee spent many years traveling throughout Washington and Alaska with Clint’s work. After retirement they traveled all over the United States attending PT Boat Reunions. They traveled to South Africa, snow birded in Yuma, AZ and Desert Hot Springs, CA and were active in Good Sams Club.
The house Clint and Lee built in Boston Harbor is the family resort. She thoroughly enjoyed having family and friends around and always graciously shared this treasure. She always had an open- door policy, anyone who showed up was invited in whether for a meal or overnight stay. Generations of us were allowed to party at her house even when she wasn’t there. We will remember her as a gracious hostess who always had clam chowder ready for the weary travelers or camping group gatherings. We will remember her as a teacher of love. With a smile would share one of her favorite sayings “Well, ya just have to love ‘em in spite of themselves.”
She leaves behind three children, Lynda Eich, Terry (Cindy)Womack and Kay (Stephen) Peterson. Her legacy continues with seven grandchildren, Jacque (Timm) Hudlow, Karen (Tom) Cornelissen, Clint Eich, Sam (Ana) Womack, Terah (Adam) Brice, Michael (Michelle) Saunders, and Matthew (Jessica) Chimenti. She was a great grandmother to 17 and great-great-grandmother to four. She also left behind her two remaining brothers, Ed (Lu) Parshall and Chuck Parshall. The family love and miss her dearly.
A special thank you to mom’s loving caregivers Tracey Wellington and Sandra Missner. Their combined efforts allowed Lee to stay in her lovely home. A memorial service will be held in September.
