

He was born on November 27, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, to Lewis and Vivian (Leder) Keller. He graduated from Bishop Blanchet High School and St. Martin’s College. He was a teacher, coach, umpire, bowler, sporting event planner, and most importantly brother, Father, husband and Grandfather. Lewis and Maija had their 58th wedding anniversary on August 26, 2025. They were blessed with three children, Lewis III, William and Kari and 9 grandchildren, Alex, Katie, Olivia, Avery, Mason, Gavin, Travis, Aniston and Tristan.
Lewis taught history, geography and social studies at North Thurston High School for 30 years, before becoming the President of the North Thurston Education Association. He had a passion for education and providing for his fellow teachers. He coached multiple sports in both high school and for his children. In retirement he enjoyed taking multiple cruises, bowling, volunteering at Church with the St. Jude Guild, and perhaps most important to him, spending time with his grandchildren. Even as the end neared, he always perked up at the sight or even voice of his grandchildren.
Lewis is deeply missed by his family, which includes his wife Maija who was always by his side. His son Lew and wife Ariel and two children Aniston and Tristan; His son William (Bill) and his wife Robin and their three children Mason, Gavin and Travis; His daughter Kari and her husband Mark Hettel, and their four children Alex, Katie, Olivia and Avery; His brothers and sisters and spouses, including Karen Keller (Fran), Bruce Keller (Barb), Marilyn Curtis (Doug), Angelin Ferrato (Tom) and Vivian Keller Bobinchuck (Chuck); his brother-in-law John Dambis; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis (Sr) and Vivian Keller, His Mother-in-law Venta Dambis and brother and sister-in-law Hendrik and Val Laur.
