Lola Lou Devening passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on January 24, 1943, to Allen Charles Todd and Margie Ilene Todd.
Lola dedicated many years of her career to serving her community through the Thurston County Housing Authority, where she worked in Section 8 Housing. She took pride in helping others and approached her work with compassion and dedication. Lola, along with her husband, Charles, lovingly fostered over 100 children.
Above all else, Lola's greatest accomplishment was her family. She raised four children with remarkable strength, determination, and unconditional love despite having no resources or assistance. Her resilience and selflessness were an inspiration to those who knew her.
In her free time, Lola found joy in crocheting, companionship with birds, spending time with her beloved dogs, collecting cow figurines, and baking with her granddaughter. These simple pleasures reflected her gentle spirit and appreciation for life's little treasures.
Lola was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Jo Devening; her daughter, Wendy Autrey; and her sister, Allene Rhodes.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, KaSandra "Kassy" Schoelkopf and her husband, Kirk, and her two sons Mark Devening, and Preston Devening; her cherished grandchildren, Breanna, Katrina, Madison, and great-granddaughter Charli Hammons, and many other grandchildren and extended family members who were blessed by her love. She also leaves behind countless friends and loved ones who will miss her deeply.
Lola loved her family unconditionally and devoted her life to caring for those she loved. Her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the lives she touched.
