Margaret Rae Pust Age 94, died at Panorama convalescent home on December 22nd, 2011. She had been in failing physical condition for several years. Even though she could barely see or hear and had trouble with her memory, she always enjoyed visits from her family and friends. She looked forward to going to her heavenly home and often expressed that wish. Margaret was born in Wheatland, Wyoming on September 9th, 1917, the daughter of Albert and Alma Dodds. She moved to Olympia as a young child and graduated from Olympia High School. She met Edgar Pust while attending Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. The two were married in 1939. Both taught school for a brief time in Montana. They moved to Olympia for a while, where sons Dick and Wesley were born. Margaret and her family moved to a farm near Milan, Minnesota, in the early 1940s. Their home had no electricity or running water. Several years later she moved to another farm near Minneapolis where a third son, Bob, was born. A near-miss by a tornado encouraged Margaret and her family to move back to Olympia, where daughter Carole was adopted. While her husband worked at Ralph's Thriftway and developed Country Club Estates, Margaret returned to teaching. She taught briefly at Littlerock Elementary, but spent most of her career as a third grade teacher at McLane Elementary. Margaret loved to play the piano. She often played at church. Margaret is survived by her three sons, Dick (Pam), Wes (Lorenda), and Bob (Judy), and daughter Carole Jean Kim (Richard) Hamilton, 10 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. Her husband Edgar preceded her in death in 1991. Funeral services will be held at Mills and Mills in Tumwater on Thursday, January 5th, 2012 at 1 pm. Viewing will be held on January 4th from 11 to 2 and on January 5th from 11 to 12:45. Flowers or a donation to World Vision would be appropriate.
