Margaret "Lolly" Muriel Smith

Margaret Muriel "Lolly" Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 102. She was born on May 17, 1924, to Beatrice and Thomas Lowery.

Lolly was a woman of remarkable resilience, grace, and warmth. Having lived through the Great Depression, she developed a strength and appreciation for life's simple blessings that remained with her throughout her life. As a young woman, she was an accomplished ice skater, a passion that reflected both her elegance and adventurous spirit.

She attended the prestigious Providence, Rhode Island School of Design, where she nurtured her creativity and appreciation for beauty. She worked the latter part of her life for the Washington State Senate where she retired.

Lolly was married to the love of her life, A.R. "Ronnie" Smith. As the proud wife of an Air Force serviceman, she embraced the opportunities and challenges of military life. Together they lived in many places around the world, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.

While her accomplishments were many, Lolly considered her greatest achievement to be her family. She was an exceptional gourmet cook who found great joy in preparing beautiful meals and welcoming loved ones into her home. Her table was a place where generations gathered to share stories, celebrate milestones, and create lasting memories. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid cribbage player throughout her life.

Lolly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronnie; her parents, Beatrice and Thomas Lowery; her siblings, Vin Lowery and Trudy Alford; and her son, Bryon Smith.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Marcille DeForest and Shaun Smith; her three grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; and the family who will continue to carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, generosity, and devotion.

Lolly lived a long and meaningful life marked by perseverance, service, hospitality, and unwavering dedication to her family. She leaves behind generations of loved ones who were blessed by her wisdom, strength, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
