Margaret graduated high school in 1954 from Onalaska, Washington. She married her high school sweetheart, Jack Wright, on August 14, 1956. The two of them worked their way through college and welcomed their first of three children in December 1957. After helping Jack get his Bachelor’s degree in Education, Margaret earned her Bachelor’s in Education and later her Master’s degree. Jack went on to a career in Administration for the schools, while Marge found her passion in the classrooms of middle and high school. The two of them shared many experiences and discussions about the importance of education both from an instructor’s and administrator’s perspective. Margaret and Jack remained married for 66 years until her passing at home with Jack by her side.
Margaret was a beloved English, reading and literature teacher for more than 20 years. While she was dedicated to instructing her students on the importance and power of words in literature and writing, Shakespeare was her passion. She would instruct her high school students on the genius and humor of the 16th Century playwright, and then her and Jack would take students to Ashland, Oregon to attend the Shakespearean Festival each Spring. Following her teaching career, Margaret supervised student teachers for several years in various locations across Washington. She was pleased to share her wisdom and experience with the next generation of teachers. Also included in “life after teaching” were spending time with family, traveling, and winters in Palm Springs with Jack.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Jack Wright, three children Cindy Rothgeb, Craig Wright and Carrie Wolfe, and their families including eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
