

Marjorie Mae Van Fossen (Turner), age 85, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on Saturday, March 15, 2014, after a long illness. She was born to the late George and Jenny Turner on July 15, 1928.
Marjorie, or Margie as many knew her, was the well defined matriarch of her family. Family and friends were Margie’s passion and delight. She grew up one of 8 children in the small town of Toledo, Washington with siblings Myrtle, Rose, Buck, Viola, Dink, and Corby. She loved to cook, she loved to travel, sing and dance and feed the birds.
At the age of 17 she met the love of her life George William Van Fossen, and was a devoted wife for over 50 years and mother to 7 children, Arnold Faye, George, Dennis William (Bill), Yvonne Marie, Peggy Ann, Steven James and Michelle Rene. Margie was a strong, passionate woman with old fashioned family values who took in many children over the course of her long life.
Margie loved her babies, especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Countless memories will be forever shared for generations by those that she helped shape with the perfect combination of love and discipline. She was a life force and a person that you couldn’t help but admire and respect.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, her sisters Myrtle, Rose and Viola, her brother Buck, her daughter Yvonne Marie, and her son Arnold. She is survived by her brothers Dink and Corby, her sister Sharon, her children, George, Bill, Peggy, Steven and Michelle, and a number of other relatives and close friends.
A viewing will be held at Mills & Mills Memorial Park on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 12:00. Her memorial service begins at 1:00 followed by a private graveside ceremony for immediate family and closed friends. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her and shared her life.
