March 20, 1949 – October 2, 2019
Mary was the second daughter born to Helen and Tony Tavelli in Santa Fe, New Mexico on March 20, 1949. Mary's life began with challenges due to Cerebral Palsy. Mom & Dad relocated to Olympia to be near family for support. As an adult, she resided in a group home with her long time friend Carol.
Mary worked for Morningside at various locations doing clerical work including the library at North Thurston High School. Through work, she made many lasting friendships.
She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a passion for travel, meeting new people and spending time with children. Disneyland was one of her favorite places. Mary also shared the love of flower gardening like her mom and sisters. She recently went to Leavenworth with Carol and had a great time. She truly had an enthusiasm for life. Mary had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. One example is that at the dinner table, she would ball up her shirt saver and throw it at Carol then they would both laugh.
Mom and Dad always said that Mary was an angel and all who met her agreed. She will always be in our hearts.
Mary, Mary, quite contrary How does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockleshells And pretty maids all in a row.
