Nancy Ann Williams was born on March 6, 1936 in Olympia, Washington. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1954 before attending and graduating from Washington State College in 1958. She went on to become a Puyallup High School art teacher and beloved softball coach.
Nancy lived on Black Lake for most of her life. She loved puttering around the grounds of her property and watching all the activity on the lake below. She built and owned an A-frame house in Ocean Shores with her golfing buddies, BJ and Fuzz.
She was certainly a huge local sports fan—all things Seahawks, Mariners, Sonics and especially her Cougs. She was a member of a poker club, volunteered at the hospital and was a silver medalist in Senior Games pickleball. She even taught English in the Philippines for a couple of years. There was a time when she wouldn't go anywhere without her little dog, Matlock. She was a gardener, a potter and a painter—a creative soul of all sorts and a lover of cheeseburgers.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Vera Williams and her brother, James Williams. She is survived by her nieces, Linda Tobin and Lisa Pim and her nephew, Bruce Williams.
We will sorely miss Nancy's quiet presence at our hearth and table. Black Lake is not, and will never be, the same without her.
A service of remembrance will be held at Mills & Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Tumwater on July 2 at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome.
