During the heart of the Dust Bowl, Opal and her family migrated West and took up residence near Eugene, Oregon.
In 1943, Opal graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma and in 1946 she met and married her husband, John McGimpsey. The two were inseparable for the next 67 years, settling in Lacey.
Opal is survived by her sister, Mary Mikle; son, Mike (Judy) McGimpsey; three daughters, Linda (Ron) Moon, Kay (Bud) Bunce and Janet Hensley; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Opal and John worked side-by-side, owning and managing various businesses over the years.
Opal loved traveling. She and John traveled to destinations all over the world, her favorite being Hawaii. She also loved to dance, exercise at The Valley Athletic Club, and work in her garden. Throughout her life Opal was always an active member in her church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She was a sweet, kind and loving person and will be greatly missed.
