

Otto grew up in Poulsbo, then graduated from Ballard High School where he held the discus and shot-put records. Otto married Marie E. Jackson, his high school sweetheart, at Ballard First Lutheran Church in 1942. After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, Otto enlisted in the Army and served in the Alaska Communications Division in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After the war ended, Otto and Marie, with their daughters, were long time residents of Edmonds. Otto worked on cable ships in connection with the Department of Defense for most of his career. In 1997, Otto and Marie moved to Tumwater. Otto was an avid reader, and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was an original member of a group of fly fishermen called the Hatchmasters.
He is survived by his loving wife Marie, daughter Linda J. Olson of Olympia, daughter and son-in-law Peter J. & Nancy G. Rigoloso of Bremerton, grandson Peter J. Rigoloso, III, granddaughter Amy Olson Kerksick, granddaughter Stephanie Rudolph and her husband Barry, great-grandchildren Marit and Beck Rudolph, and has many close extended family members, neighbors, friends, co-workers, and Hatchmaster fishing buddies who will miss him.
A memorial service to celebrate Otto's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Mills & Mills Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Tumwater, on Thursday, October 25, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice.
