Pat was born on January 31, 1931, to James and Lucille Ratcliff. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jimmy (James), three sisters Ruth, Dorothy (Dot), and Carolyn; a daughter Jennifer, and an infant grandson Tory (James Torin). Pat’s family was a World War II Gold Star family.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Cindy), Karen, Jeff and Amy. Also, her 3 grandchildren, Shina (Gerald), Christopher, and Jimmy (Crystal), 5 wonderful great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren!
Pat was born in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Kansas City, Missouri schools through high school. She then attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas but had to quit to raise her children. While raising her children, Pat worked as a Lab Technician and nursing assistant for former White House Physician Dr. Wallace Graham in Kansas City, Missouri and participated in the medical care of former President Harry S. Truman and former First Lady Bess Truman.
Wishing to finally earn a college degree, Pat bravely quit her job and went back to college in her 50s receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas. After this proud achievement, she worked for a time at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas and later relocated to Olympia, Washington to be closer to her children and grandchildren and worked at Providence St. Peter Hospital until her retirement in 1996.
Pat enjoyed her years with family and friends in the Pacific Northwest, visiting the many interesting cities, hiking trails, parks, beaches, wildlife refuges, and museums that the area has to offer, along with watching and feeding birds from her back yard bird sanctuary. She loved watching baseball. However, her primary focus was always devoting her life to the care and support of all her children. We will be forever grateful.
