I knew this young man ,had the honor of working with him as we took care of the new recruits he had recruited out of Brownwood Texas and I transported to Amarillo ,always very polite I enjoyed talking to him very professional to the point got the job done ,once a awhile he would let me into his personal life that he was going to school and working hard and how much he loved his son . I was honored and privileged to know him ,it hit me hard to find out about the circumstances of his death , Sargent Montanez thank you for your service it was a honor and privilege to work with you !!!

Paul and I served in JBLM before we got orders for Recruiting (him) and Drill Sergeant (me). We have called back and forth for nearly 8 years. We talked about the good, the bad, and the Army. I made sure to never miss his calls. I know how hard it was and I hope you're at peace. Here is a picture if the Northern Lights he sent me, he was amazed how awesome they were.

i remember it was summer, it was night time. the family was all at your dads house. a few of us went outside and you, me and your little sister were talking about your time in the military, it was fairly new to us all still and we were so interested and captivated by the stuff you were telling us. i remember you suddenly took a turn in your stories and you began to joke around and tell us about aliens and conspiracies theories for fun and we were like “whoa! no way”. we were practically begging for more stories about aliens and reptilians and you teased us for being weirdos. it was so funny looking back at that because i’ve always wondered if you were serious about the conspiracies or not. i never could really know haha. it’s one of my favorite memories. and i loved seeing you and my dad hang out and drinking a few beers for fun. it was nice seeing you around the house when i was a kid. i will always remember your smile and your sense of humor. i do wish i could speak to you again. i know you’re in safe hands. you know everyone loves you so you very much.
until next time,

We are lucky to have experienced growing up together with our cousins at Grandma Bettys house. So many great unforgettable memories. You are by far in a better place but we will miss you dearly.

I know Grandma had our favorite crunchy potatoes and yolky eggs waiting for you up there. 😇

Until we meet again cousin,

I'll always remember baby Paul as the little rug rat sitting on Gram's bed. Rest assured he's in loving arms and forever in our hearts.
