

Phyllis Allen passed away at St. Peter Hospital on August 2, 2014; she was 90. Phyllis was born in Graceton, Minnesota in 1923. Phyllis saw many changes in her 90 years of living. She started her life in very humble beginnings, in a home that didn’t have electricity or running water.
She was married to Calvin Armstrong until his death in 1960. She was then married to Wilton (W.E.) Allen until his death in 2003.
Phyllis was talented in many ways and enjoyed many artful pass times including sewing, knitting, crocheting, carving and quilting. She was a member of the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital Guild, and supported many different causes for people in need. Phyllis was also a longtime member of The Moose Lodge.
Phyllis is survived by her three children and their spouses or significant others; Roger and Sandy Allen, Louanne Michaels and Bob Rietze, Christine and Christopher Roth. She is also survived by her grandchildren Abe Allen and Janelle Ligrani, Lia and Linsie Michaels, Devenie Booth and Samantha Roth. Phyllis is also survived by her brothers and their spouses Bill and Melba O’Neill and Don and Bonnie Eickhoff and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis is preceded in death by her first husband Calvin Armstrong, her second husband of 42 years W.E. Allen and her grandson A.J. Allen. Phyllis is also preceded in death by her sisters Joyce Smith and Ila Nelson.
Phyllis will always be remembered for her tenacity, courage, dependability and generosity. She faced many, many obstacles in her life which she met head on with grace and fearlessness. She was a constant source of wisdom and insight to those around her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
