I first met Jo in 2014, when I went to work at Columbus Park on Black Lake in Olympia. I was just a shy, green kid and in all honesty, was rather intimidated by this headstrong, no-nonsense woman who I was going to work for. But the more I worked with and around Jo, the more I saw a kind, gentle soul behind those stubborn-looking eyes. Through the months that passed since I had started working there, I became more and more fond of Jo. She became a friend that I could talk to and trust, someone who could be a mediator for me if conflict arose between myself and a co-worker. When I heard of her passing, it felt like I was hit by a train. My heart was broken for her family and friends who loved her so much. To Len, and the rest of Jo's family, I send my sincere condolences, and keep you in my prayers. I pray God will bless each of you with peace and love as you grieve such a significant loss.

Our Kids came out to play in the snow a couple years ago and barricaded our office door for us! We laughed and griped about our crazy kids, while tearing down the snow man to get to work! Seemed appropriate for this weather we are having to remember how much Jo loved the snow and our crazy kids. Sure do miss having her with me to navigate what to do about all this snow.

I think it was Madison's 3rd Christmas, she asked for a gold star and that was all. Auntie Jo went all over and found her the perfect puffy gold star ornament. She still has it hanging from her bedroom door knob. Jo made a point of always finding the perfect little Christmas gift for her. It was one of Madison and Jo's favorite traditions, to meet the last day before our Christmas holiday and exchange gifts. Over the years Madison has made or purchased a gift for Auntie Jo with her own money, because she was just as important as Grandparents to her. Just one memory for now...
