Kjersti means “dear one” in Norwegian and was her maternal great-great grandmother’s name. She died of complications of Muscular Dystrophy. Rachel was born February 11th, 1974 at Olympia, Washington to Dwight and Tricia Trager. She attended Tumwater Schools, including Michael T. Simmons Elementary, Tumwater Middle School and graduated from Tumwater High School in 1992.
Rachel had various jobs including Tumwater Parks and Recreation where she helped maintain the Tumwater Valley Golf Course, but primarily did reception work for several area Chiropractors, including Capitol Chiropractic. Ultimately, she worked for Jennings Equipment, a Kubota Dealer, in Puyallup where she met her Husband, fellow employee, Ken Michael.
They were married in 2004 at her Parent’s house on Totten Inlet. She was introduced to Ken’s extended family including his grown children, Chris and Chris’s daughter, Brooke and then Ashley and eventually Ashley’s new husband Matt and then their two children, Owen and Riley. She also met Kenny’s other adult children, Kimberly and Lonny and Lonny’s wife Lisa and their daughter, Lexie. Rachel loved her dogs, “Cooter”, “Tinkerbell” and “Roscoe”, three Shih Tzus who were her constant companions during her waining days.
Rachel owes the last several years of her life to the excellent care of her loving husband who became a very competent self taught respiratory therapist. She also received a lot of support from Ken’s family and her many friends and neighbors at her home at the Rainbow RV Park.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Tricia, in 1995, also from Muscular Dystrophy, her paternal grandparents, Ward and Carna Trager and her maternal grandparents, Claude and Charlotte Merideth.
