The Seahawks lost one of their most devoted fans with the death of Rhonda Diane Dahl on Monday, November 2, when she ended a long battle with diabetes. Born on September 27, 1967 to Ken and Sharon (Dahl) Cohen, Rhonda lived all her life in the South Sound region and attended local schools.
Her marriage in 1985 to Keith Kinread resulted in her twin sons, Larry and David Kinread. A second marriage, to Vince Petersen, presented her with a daughter, Stephanie Petersen.
Besides being survived by her parents and children, Rhonda had the good fortune to have three grandsons, twins Peyton and Ryder Kinread and their cousin, Harold Kinread, to dote on. Her siblings Travis Dahl, Jesse, Eric, and Denny Cohen, Leslie Brewer, and Jeanette Iyall, will also miss her.
From an early age she owned a camera and photography continued to be a passion for the rest of her life. Her artistic interests extended to music, as both a songwriter and singer with a local band that often performed at Salmon Shores Resort. She loved barbecues and was the family’s go-to cake decorator. Several of her finely crocheted items won blue ribbons at the Thurston County Fair and many people considered themselves lucky to receive her jams and homemade pickled beans as Christmas presents.
Anyone who knew her will remember her as a cheerful, kind, generous and loving spirit who left us too soon.
Her family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
