Richard Allan Fulton

Richard Allan Fulton was born on November 25, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the marital union of Homer A. Fulton and Charlotte Virginia Fulton. He died on July 9, 2021, in Olympia, Washington. The Fultons moved to Olympia when Rich was one year old. He attended Garfield School and then Olympia High School, graduating in 1959.

After attending Western Washington State College, Rich joined the United Air Force Reserve as an Air Evac Medic. Rich flew many missions into Vietnam providing care for the wounded in that war. On February 6, 1963, Rich and Dietlind (Damm) were married in Olympia, Washington. Rich and Dee have three sons, Todd, Mark, and Mike.

Rich used his medical training to move into position at Western State Hospital. He later worked with his Dad, Homer, with Music City in Villa Plaza. From Music City Rich joined the Kimball Organ and Piano Company, back in Indiana, as a regional sales representative. He then joined the Steinway Piano Company at which time he moved with his young family back to Washington. Rich rejoined Kimball Electronics as an international sales director, and the family moved back to southern Indiana where all three sons graduated from Purdue University.

Rich and his family moved back to Olympia, Washington where Rich retired and enjoyed his home at Sunset Beach with his golf community of the Olympia Country & Golf Club where he was a key volunteer and avid golfer.

Rich was preceded in death by his wife, Dee, in 2004; his dad, Homer, in 1973; by his son, Erik, in 1970. He is survived by his sons, Todd and wife Amy of Olympia; Mike and wife Ali of Snohomish; and Mark and wife Liz of Kirkland; his mother, Charlotte Wiseman of Lacey; his brothers, Gary and Sheri of Lakewood; Dennis and Cindy of Gig Harbor; and David and Mary of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren.

A Memorial Celebration of Rich’s life will be held at the Olympia Country & Golf Club on Friday, July 23rd at 4:00 pm.

A memorial is being established to benefit the youth involved at the Olympia Country & Golf Club.
