

Dick, 80, passed away peacefully on 10-8-2012 after a long illness. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on 12-18-31; was raised and graduated high school in Austin, MN; served in the Army at West Pt. as a military policeman for two yrs.; and graduated from Univ. of MN w/a degree in Mech. Engr. Dick’s first job out of college was with Boeing where he retired 38 years later.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Lenor Hessler and his brother Robert (Bob) Hessler. He is survived by his wife Virginia Hessler; daughter Kathryn Tegreene; sister Beverly (Bev) Nelson; sister-in-law Carol Hessler; daughter-in-law Christine Berger; sons-in-law Daniel Griffith and James Griffith; granddaughters, Vanessa and Serena Bader and Renee Berger; grandson Cor Griffith; and several nieces and nephews.
Dick lived in Bellevue, WA prior to moving to Olympia 13 years ago. He spent his retired years enjoying time with family and friends, vacationing, golfing, playing bridge, and volunteering in his community. Dick was a wonderful, loving, thoughtful, honorable, and witty intellectual who will be missed every day by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Peter Foundation, 413 Lilly Rd. NE, 98506. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater, WA. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
