Ron spent most of his life in the Olympia area where he graduated from Olympia High School in 1953. He married Roberta (Bobbye) Moore on Nov. 2, 1957 and had 2 daughters, Janet and Debbie.
Ron worked many jobs including his first job as a newspaper carrier for the Daily Olympian, a service attendant, and at his Uncle Chet’s gas station. He worked most of his career for AT & T where he retired in 1990 after 35 years of service.
Ron’s hobbies in his earlier years included dirt bike riding, fixing old cars and hunting. He and 3 buddies appeared in the Daily Olympian with a bear they had shot. He continued to tinker on cars and had an avid woodworking shop. His slogan was “you can never have too many knives, guns or flashlights!”. He also had quite a collection of eagles and Mickey Mouse items. He dressed the part of a cowboy (although he never owned a horse) with a collection of fancy boots and cowboy hats. Vacations were always important to Ron and he took his family to the Oregon Coast twice a year.
