Roy William Savage, aged 86, passed away on February 6, 2026, at Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. Born on October 10, 1939, in Burlington, Vermont, he is survived by his wife, Sun Savage; their son, Lee Savage (Lauren); granddaughters, Mariana and Calista; his siblings, Reginald Savage (Lois), Rene Savage (Sharon), Rena Potwin, and Regina Boucher. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Esmerilda Savage, and his brothers, Roger and Ronald Savage.

Roy dedicated a significant part of his life to military service, joining the U.S. Army in 1957 and retiring in 1985 from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Throughout his distinguished career, he was honored with numerous awards, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, among many others. His commitment to service was deeply respected and acknowledged.

Beyond his military career, Roy was a devout member of the Olympia Central Presbyterian Church. He cherished his time fishing in Thurston County’s lakes, watching westerns, and most importantly, spending time with his beloved family. Roy's presence brought warmth and joy to those around him. His life was a testament to his strength, honor, and the deep love he had for God, his country, and his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
