

RUSSELL DALE DeFOREST June 11, 1922-February 12, 2012 Russell Dale DeForest died on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at home in Olympia, Washington. He was born in Raymond, Washington on June 11, 1922 to L.V. (Brownie) DeForest and Josephine (Chenier) DeForest. In Raymond he played football, basketball, and track. He then attended a year of college at Washington State in Pullman. World War II interrupted his education when he joined the Navy in 1942. He spent 3 years in the South Pacific Theatre, Rank-Radioman Second Class. Following the war in 1946, he settled in Olympia and went to work for the State where he met and married Yvonne (Schultz) DeForest in 1948. He later went to work for the Olympia Brewing Company as a brewer until 1980 when he retired after 31 years. Russell was an avid golfer, had 4 holes in one, enjoyed traveling, gardening, and was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by Yvonne, his wife of 53 years. He is survived by their 3 children, Dane R. and Dale V. of Olympia, and Denise DeForest Lindsay of Boulder, CO, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
