

We are sad to announce that Russell Uerling of Olympia, Washington passed away on June 2nd. He was born on December 31st, 1962 in Stanley Wisconsin to parents Clarence Uerling and Alveria (Mengel) Uerling. Russ was the youngest of 14 children in the family. He grew up on a Dairy Farm in Colby Wisconsin with his seven brothers, and six sisters.
Russ graduated from Colby High School in 1981. Later in the 80’s he moved to Washington State and resided in Tacoma, and Spanaway. On July 23, 2011, Russ married the love of his life Christine (Johnson) Uerling. They settled in Olympia with their two dogs.
Russ was known as a man of few words, but his stubborn side matched the love he had for his family. He worked for over 25 years as a sheet metal worker. When not working, Russ loved to do many things. Most notably trapping, hunting and fishing. He was a long time member of the Washington State Trapper’s Association. He could often be seen with a Pabst Blue Ribbon in one hand, he loved spending time with his nephews Matt and James, and watching WWE wrestling.
He is preceded in death by his sisters June Uerling and Janet Lawniczak; brothers Raymond, Donald, Ervin, Jack, and Thomas. Russ is survived by his wife Christine Uerling; Brothers: Peter (Theresa) Uerling, James Uerling; And sisters: Mae (Leroy) Mattison, Patricia Meyers, Rose Uerling, and Jenny (Brian) Shannon.
A Celebration of Life for Russ will be held on Saturday July 18th at 11AM at Mills and Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater, Washington. In honor of Russ, blue jeans and plaid flannel shirts are welcome! Russ will be deeply missed.
