

Sharon Carol Bach Romas, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Capital Medical Center in Olympia, with her niece, Mary Ann Mathis, at her side. Sharon had a long history of health concerns.
She was born on February 15, 1933 in Olympia, Washington, to Stenna O. (Bowen) and Glenn R. Bach, the youngest of 7 children. She graduated from William Winlock Miller High School in Olympia in 1951., and then attended Central Washington State College. She lived in Olympia and Tacoma all of her life.
She married Chet Romas on May 29, 1963. he preceeded her in death on May 4, 2001.
She was a secretary and office worker most of her life, beginning in 1951 at the State Dept. of Social Security in Olympia. She left there to attend college for a time. Then she worked at Georgia Pacific in Olympia in 1953 and 1954. She left there to move to Tacoma, and worked for the G.R. Kirk Company in Puyallup from 1954 to 1961. She left Kirk to work for Weyerhauser Co. at their headquarters (then in Tacoma) from 1961 to 1967. She left Weyerhauser to work for American Plywood Assn. in Tacoma in 1967, and worked there until July of 1977. She and Chet had moved to their house on Puget Sound out of Olympia by this time, and the drive was 100 miles round-trip each day, so she quit her job there. in 1983 she began employment at the Washington State Senate, as a secretary to Senator Dianne H. Woody.
Sharon was currently living with, and is survived by, her niece Mary Ann Mathis, in Olympia, She is also survived by her little dog, Ichiro, her sister June Hill of Renton, her brother (age 92) Earl “Jiggs” Bach of Olympia, two step-daughter- Roberta Zwettler and Sandra Hall, and numerous other step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chet Romas, her brothers Edgar ad Glenn and her sisters Beverly and Norma.
Sharon was an avid card player- Pinochle and Hand and Foot were her favorites. she was an excellent cook and homemaker and grew beautiful flowers. over the years she loved to travel and made several trips to Europe- once with her sister Beverly. included in the adventures in her trips abroad she laughingly “kissed the Blarney Stone” in Ireland. (She loved to laugh!) She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Funeral arrangements are by Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road Southwest, Tumwater, Washington. Inurnment will take place at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tumwater at the family plot on Saturday, August 11, at 11:00 a.m.
