Shaylyn Gail Nyborg (Shay, Shaylee, Little Girl, Buggy), 50, of Olympia, Washington, left this world far too soon on October 21, 2025, but not before filling it with laughter, love, and an unforgettable smile.
Born August 26, 1975, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Rodney and Patricia Nyborg, Shay graduated from Widefield High School in 1994. She chased her passion for learning to Fort Hays State University before earning her degree from the University of West Florida in 1999. Her first career chapter unfolded at the Children’s Museum of Denver, where as Assistant Manager and Animal Care Manager she delighted kids (and critters) with her boundless energy and quick wit.
In October 2000, she married Chris Larmore, the love of her life and soon-to-be proud military spouse. When Chris enlisted after 9/11, Shay embraced every move with grace and humor, moving from coast to coast until they planted roots in Olympia in 2012. She wrapped up her working years at Macy’s, where customers and coworkers alike were drawn to her infectious laugh and that trademark grin.
Shay lived for Halloween (the spookier, the better), road-tripping to baseball stadiums, and cheering louder than anyone for sons Kyler and Rilan on the lacrosse field and hockey rink. A devoted dog mom, she spoiled every pup lucky enough to call her family. Her humor was legendary, her heart enormous, and her hugs healing.
She was predeceased by grandparents Irl and Virginia Street and Orin and Pearl Nyborg. Shay is survived by her husband Chris; sons Kyler and Rilan; parents Rodney and Patricia Nyborg; brother Rodney Nyborg II (Jacquelyn); mother-in-law Vina Carroll; father-in-law Johnnie Larmore; brothers-in-law Johnnie (Jr.) and Jeff Larmore; sister-in-law Jennifer Larmore; and many beloved nieces and nephews, a pack of four-legged companions; and a stadium-sized circle of friends who will forever hear her laugh in the wind.
A celebration of Shay’s extraordinary life will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater, WA 98512. Come wearing your favorite team jersey, Halloween colors, or anything that makes you smile—Shay wouldn’t have it any other way.
We will also be having a celebration of life in Colorado Springs, CO in the summer of 2026. She will be laid to rest in the Pikes Peak National Cemetery there, and more details will be announced as they are finalized.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Joint Animal Services, Concern for Animals and Feline Friends of Olympia in Olympia, WA.
