Shirley Jean Hobbs passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on September 6, 2021 at Providence Saint Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA at the age of 78. Ms. Hobbs was born to the late Carlo Hobbs and Ellen Saylor Hobbs on February 13, 1943 in Salem, Indiana.
In 1974 she moved to Reno Nevada until she relocated to Vancouver, Washington in 1989 to raise her daughter.
She was an avid reader and loved writing poetry. She was a graduate of the University of Indiana where she studied european art history and comparative literature. Ms. Hobbs liked to travel and tour museums, loved the Pacific Northwest beaches and really enjoyed the summer.
Among those preceding her in death are her parents; her sisters, Mary E. Brown, Geneva “Genny” Baker and Jeanettiea Harris; brothers, Paul Hobbs, John Hobbs, Nathaniel Hobbs and Eli Hobbs.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Gina Comeau and Shelby Weir; her grandchildren, Julia, Edward James, and Johnny; her sister, Faye Drum and dearest friend Harry Day.
