She graduated from Jefferson High School in Daly City, CA and then attended nursing school in San Francisco, CA.
She married Charles R Wright in 1955. They spent 4 years at Ft. Ord, CA while he was in the Army and she worked at the base hospital. After service, they went to Guam for private construction work in 1959. Shirley loved talking about seeing the islands of Hawaii, Wake, Kwajalein, and Majuro just 14 years after WWII.
She married Eugene C. Neiswanger 14 December 1968 in Reno, WA. She lived in Lacey, WA for the past 52 years.
Genealogy has been her passion for many years, writing the history of her family. She loved reading, quilting, rock hunting and watching the grandchildren grow up. Over the years, she enjoyed having occasional lunches with her dear friend, Phyllis Neiswanger.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Eugene Clifton Neiswanger, and her brother, Richard Baxter Rogers.
She is survived by a sister, Betty Rogers Gaddy Daramus of Asheville, NC, sister-in-law Orchid Rogers of Oldsmar, FL. Nephews: Fleetwood Gaddy of Asheville, NC, Richard Cecil of Union Gap, WA, Robert Cecil of NC, Ronald Rogers of Oldsmar, FL, and Russell Rogers of Clearwter, FL. Niece: Joan Garrett of Charlotte, NC, Connie Fann of Yakima, WA, and Renee Rogers Gingold of Tampa, FL. 13 Grand nephews and nieces and 4 great grand nephews and nieces.
Surviving are her step children, Kevin E. Neiswanger and wife, Dianna of Tumwater, WA, Pamela J. Neiswanger and husband Douglas Warner of Anchorage, AK and Rodney C. Hamilton and wife, Anne of Chehalis, WA.
Grandchildren, Calvin R Neiswanger of Lacey, WA, Stacie Neiswanger, and husband, Jade Andrews of Tumwater, WA, Keary Marie Warner of Anchorage, AK and Josie Hamilton of Winlock, WA.
Beautiful great granddaughter, Adalynn JoLee Andrews of Tumwater, WA.
Shirley Ann Neiswanger was truly an awesome loving person that impacted so many lives from coast to coast. Shirley leaves a void in our lives that she touched and loved, but we do have her memories and the love she shared. God Bless and rest in peace Shirley Ann Rogers Neiswanger “job well done”.
