

Steve was born Sept. 9, 1956 in Cyril, Okla. to Henry and Louise Brooks. He graduated from Tumwater High School in 1975. On August 4, 1979, he began his life with his true love, Staci Eileen Sundvik. They spent the next 34 years together raising their three children.
In January 1985, Steve found his true calling in life and became a police officer. He worked for the Olympia Police Department, before joining the Lacey Police Department in February 1986. While at Lacey he served as a patrol officer, a member of the drug unit, a detective, and as a school resource officer in the North Thurston School District. Steve received Officer of the Year in 1991. Steve loved his career and made many life-long friends during his time as a police officer.
Steve enjoyed hunting, bowling, golf, and playing poker. He was an avid Seattle sports fan, but most of all he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.
Steve is survived by his loving life-partner, Staci; his three children, son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Karen; daughter and fiancé, Tiffani and Travis; and son, Trevor; and his three grandchildren, Shane, Peyten, and Wyatt. He is also survived by his parents, Henry and Louise, his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Larry Weaver, and his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Yvonne Brooks; his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 23, at 11:00 at Capital Christian Center (4431 Martin Way E). There will be a public viewing Thursday, Aug. 22, from 4:00-9:00 at Mills & Mills Funeral Home (5725 Littlerock Rd).
