Born September 23, 1962, in Tacoma, Washington, Steve lived in Washington through adulthood but also in Michigan and Germany during his early childhood. He was self-employed in the landscape material delivery business for 23 years. Prior to that he worked at John's Towing and Wrecking Yard for many years. He was considered quite the junk yard dog - he was able to locate any vehicle part needed and he was known for his ability to fix anything.
Steve will always be remembered for his love and support of family, his unsurpassable work ethic, his generosity in helping others, and his passion for hunting, fishing, wildlife watching and joke-telling. He often went fishing out of Westport, and took at least one yearly hunting trip east of the mountains, sometimes as far away as Montana.
He would literally shoot the bull out in the woods, but when he wasn't working, fishing or hunting, he would figuratively "shoot the bull" with friends and family. His gift of gab and personality won him many friends over the years; they appreciated his honesty, straight-forwardness, and his sense of humor. He loved to laugh, but more important, he loved to make others laugh.
Among Steve's survivors is his son, Brandon Shue of Olympia and Gerry Artman, Brandon's significant other, his granddaughter, Lilyanna Shue, Lacey, his brother Pete Shue, Moxee, his sisters, Suzette (Kurt) Brown, Tenino, and Darolyn Shue, Rochester, a niece, several nephews and grandnephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Darroll and Sharon Shue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Steve's memory to For Heaven's Sake Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation, Post Office Box 12417, Olympia, WA 98508
