

After an extended illness, Sylvia C. Valdez passed away peacefully in her home on May 20, 2024 with her family by her side. Sylvia was 89 years old. She was born to Abe and Dora Vallejo on May 5, 1935 in the small mining town of Delcarbon, Colorado. She had four siblings; Viola Anderson (living), Virginia Everhart (deceased), Eddie Vallejo (deceased), and Michael Vallejo (living). She and her husband, Rudy, made their life in in Pueblo, Colorado for many years until they moved their family to Lacey, WA in 1977 for Rudy’s work.
Sylvia loved living in the Pacific Northwest and exploring new places with her family. Sylvia was a hard worker and held several part-time positions throughout her life while raising her family; but her family was her focus. She had a very funny sense of humor. She was known for being independent and not following the rules. She always thought she had a better idea. She was very fun loving to be around and enjoyed hosting many parties for friends and family at her home. Everyone who knew her loved her. Sylvia was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed.
Sylvia leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Rudy Valdez; four children - Valerie Ross (Terry), Veronica Diseth (Barry), Vikki Valdez (Roy), and son Rudy Valdez. She had eight grandchildren (Adam, Devin, Kale, Mason, Drew, Myles, Adian, and Hannah), two step-grandchildren (Melissa and Peter), and four great-grandchildren (Ellen, Rebecca, Violet, and Ryan).
There will be a funeral mass for her at Sacred Heart Church in Lacey at 10:15 on May 30, 2024; followed by a reception in Hallen Hall.
