Uncle Tom was a positive influence in my life and I will miss him.

We have lost a wonderful man, someone who impacted my life at an early age, and I will be forever grateful for knowing him. My prayers go out to the family.

Uncle Tom I will miss you so very much.  You were a mentor, my Dad's twin, and my Gofather.  You touched my life and so many others. Your captivating smile, the gleam in your eye and your love for me.  I am thankful to have many nice memories to recall.  I am sad for myself, but now you can rest.  My heart goes out to Aunt Gladys, Cheryl, Tom, David and Jack.  I love you all.  Time teaches our heart how to tolerate the loss of the ones we love.  My deepest sympathies. XO

Uncle Tom will greatly be missed. I have always had a special bond with him .  When Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980 he made a huge binder of all the article and sent me a bag of the ashes from the eruption.   When he came to my wedding back in 1999.... Hi Jack.....writing to you from Huntley, Illinois.....distant suburb of Chicago just south of Wisconsin and Lake Geneva.....a long, long-time college friend of your dad.

Appreciate your e-mail announcement sent to my Hotmail account.  A splendid outreach to use cyber to communicate the sad news.  Your mom called me morning of his passing.....I had learned several weeks prior via Facebook and a mutual friend of his hospitalization and critical health status.

Tom and I met at Northwestern University in 1948...members of a social group called Men Off Campus.....we were one rip/roaring group of guys....many vets....with a purpose of meeting friends in sort of a fraternity atmosphere.  We had limited quarters in Scott Hall on campus.....where we could always drop in....lunch in the commons, have a quick 'game'....and in those years the gals from Women Off Campus organization had a tea and coffee for an hour or so after classes.....sounds kind of 'big shot'....but was a great way to meet.....and, of course, we had many parties.....I have one great photo with your dad when we attended a "Parisian Night"....in Parisian attire for a mini stage performance.   I was dating my wife Lois at that time who was attending nearby Elmhurst College.....she loved the 'NU boys' and dear Tom.....we visited with him and your grandparents up in Rib Lake.....and on and on......

We also met from time to time in Chicago when your mom and dad were visiting your Aunt Adelle (sp? )....and Tom attended one of our MOC/NU class reunions maybe ten years ago on campus.

I've written to your mom and extended our condolences.....peace and comfort to you and extended family.  It's that time and season for we oldsters.....the sun is setting....and like old soldiers we're really just fading away but hopefully staying in the memory of dear family and loved ones for many years hence!
