Want to share a few memories:   
   Tracy and I became boyhood pals and "partners in crime" through a close friendship of our mothers Pearl and Marguerite, who appeared to be having some sort of contest: when one had a baby, the other would have a baby the next year, so the first half dozen or so Musgroves and Meyers are staggered by one year each.
   When the mothers visited, us kids would disappear, Doug with Roger, myself with Tracy.  Our chief entertainment was building "forts" in the woods at either place, or, in winter, out of hay bales in the barn at Meyer's Dairy.   (Our source of light amidst those hay bales were candles, provoking strong warnings from adults about fire or suffocation).   When we were at Musgroves, Tracy always seemed to have the chore of churning butter with a hand-operated churn before we could "play".  In thinking back, I realize that Tracy must have read of Tom Sawyer and the white-washed fence, because I always seemed to get the first and last turn at the churn.
   Neighborhood pranks were often laid at our door, though seldom proven, like the time someone dropped firecrackers down the chimney at the Delphi Schoolhouse Christmas gathering.  Of course there were those prudish types that predicted that we'd never make it out of our teenage years, I think the term "hell raisers" was often evoked.  We've outlived most of those, and to any left I would say, " nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah!   We've made it into our 70s, and had a lot of fun along the way!"

Riding into the Sunset

When I listened to the message on
my phone machine, it said: 
Tracy passed away
Memories flooded in: I saw him
currying a horse, jumping high to
hook that basketball through the hoop!
A photograph on his mom's mantle 
in his navy uniform, white sailor cap
topping off his perfectly combed blond hair
A hard-hat and suspenders and steel-toed
logging boots covered from top to bottom
with grit and grease- always in motion-
engaged with Life
Tracy was ambitious-he once told me 
that he planned to be a millionaire by age 50
That amazed me because he was logging 
at the time-I was just a kid-What did I know?
 
Tracy was a hard worker and he achieved much:
He bought our family dairy farm, nearly a half section
before he was 40!
He and Liz raised their kids in our beloved ranch house
He imported his horses into our cow barn
Tracy was a friendly neighbor and 
I always thought that if  the farm had to be sold,
 so glad that it was to him!
 
In my nostalgia and reverie:
At sunset, I saw a horseman wave, then lift his hat high,
his horse reared up in a Lone Ranger salute
He wheeled the stud around and rode west
into the orange and pink painted horizon
until he disappeared- It was such a grand good-bye
I could not help but smile
 Tracy has ridden on to meet his loved ones in
the pastures of Heaven
Good-bye, Tracy! Fare-the-well, father, brother, son
and friend!

In memory of Tracy Wayne Musgrove, February 14, 1942- February 17, 2015

Tracy Wayne Musgrove, 73, of Olympia, WA, passed away on February 17 of cancer.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00pm, Sunday March 8th at Mills and Mills for family and close friends.  Jon Corcoran will be officiating.  A "Celebration of Life" Potluck will follow from 2:00-5:00pm at the Thurston County Posse Hall in Littlerock for all friends and family. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mills and Mills.

Tracy was born in Olympia on February 14, 1942. He graduated from Rochester High School and continued on to serve his county in the United States Navy.
Tracy owned and operated Musgrove Milling for many years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, racing and riding horses, haying, working on his machinery and teaching his kids and grandchildren all about his hobbies. For many years, Tracy was a member of the Thurston County Sherriff's Posse.
Tracy is survived by children Rhonda, Clayton, Lisa and Petee, son-in-laws Jared and Andy, grandchildren Danny, Tarin, Lance and Payton and siblings Sharon, Richard, Reed and Jerry. 
Tracy is preceded in death by parents Wayne and Pear, brother Roger and son-in-law Tom.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to honor Tracy by replanting his fruit orchard and flower gardens at his farm on Delphi Rd where he resided for close to 40 years.

RIP to my best boyhood Bud, remembering all the good times, and even the trouble we got into (those were good times, too!).  Thanks for the memories!

Rest in peace my love.  From high school to now you gave me beautiful memories.  You will always be in my heart.
