Wilma Jensen was born October 2, 1918 and passed away March 5, 2017. She was born at home near Rock Rapids, Iowa to Frank and Edna Weatherly. Wilma was the oldest of five children, all of which preceded her in death.
She spent the early part of her life in Iowa and Minnesota. Wilma met Alvin Jensen and they married September 28, 1941.Together they had two children, Charlene Chamberlain of Centralia, Washington and Dennis Jensen (Margo) of Olympia Washington. Wilma had nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Al and Wilma moved to Washington State in 1949, and bought and operated a mom-and-pop grocery/gas station for many years. After retiring, they moved to Lacey Washington and began their travels in their motor home.
This took them over most of the United States. They later moved to Chehalis Washington.
They were lifetime grange members attending the Newaukum Grange, in Napavine, Washington. With a deep faith in our Lord Christ, she was a member of the First Methodist Church, Chehalis, Washington. After Al’s death in 2003, Wilma lived at Providence Place, Chehalis for 11 years. She moved to Chehalis West Assisted Living for the last two years of her life. Wilma made many friends there. Where she had made it her job to greet many of the new residents Wilma’s passion in life was her writing. About two years ago her granddaughter compiled a book with much of Wilma’s family and travel notes, of which she was so very proud.
Our family thanks the caring and thoughtful staff at Chehalis West Assisted Living and Hospice for helping us and mom handle her gentle passing.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Chehalis West Assisted Living Saturday March 24, 2017, at 2:00 pm.
