Alvaro was married for 44 years to the love of his life, Maria Manuela, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. A devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima in Thornton, Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine, and the Festa do Espírito Santo, he was deeply involved in local festas and his community. Alvaro was known for his fun-loving spirit, positive outlook, and unwavering desire to help others. He cherished time spent playing cards, being with his family, and cheering, always passionately, for his beloved San Francisco 49ers.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Manuela Magina of Stockton; his son, Jason Magina and his wife, Lonica, of Elk Grove; his daughters, Christi Enes and her husband Mark, of Stockton, and Stephani Alves and her husband, Garrett of Buena Park. Alvaro is also survived by his mother, Maria Lucia Fernandes of Lodi; his brothers, Sev Magina of Escalon, David Magina and his wife, Stefanie of Denair, and Brian Magina of Galt. He leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: Brayden Enes, Ellyanna Enes, Maddox Alves, Nixson Magina, Brixton Alves, and Hendrix Alves.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Liam Alves, his father, Artur Magina, and his sister, Nair Magina.
A visitation will be held at St. Michael Church, 5882 N. Ashley Ln., Stockton, CA 95215, on December 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. The committal service will take place that same day at Cherokee Memorial Park, E. Harney Ln., Lodi, CA 95240.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Magina, Mark Enes, Garrett Alves, Brayden Enes, Maddox Alves, Nixson Magina, Brixton Alves, and Hendrix Alves.
Alvaro was a man whose kindness, generosity, and joyful presence touched countless lives. His laughter filled every room, and his willingness to lend a hand strengthened the community he loved so deeply. To his family and friends, he was a pillar of love, loyalty, and warmth. Their hearts are forever changed by his loss yet forever blessed by the time they shared with him.
He will be profoundly and lovingly missed, today, tomorrow, and always.
