On February 28, Bela passed peacefully in Modesto, California. Born in Praia da Victoria, Terceira, Azores, Bela had lived in Modesto for the last 5 years after living in San Jose for many years. She was a long-time member of Five Wounds Catholic Church in San Jose.
Bela is survived by her 3 sons: Aderito "Ace" (Anita) Azevedo of Modesto, Tom (Daniela) Azevedo of Oakdale, and Robert Azevedo of Modesto, as well as her sisters: Manuela da Rocha of Escalon, Fatima (Manuel) Couto of Escalon, and Irene Nazare, and many nieces and nephews.
Bela was preceded in death by her parents Joaquim & Elvira Mendonca, and her husband Americo Azevedo.
Visitation will be held 2:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service: 286 W. Main Street, Turlock, California. During the visitation there will be a recitation of the rosary at 6:00 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church: 19399 Hwy 120 Ripon, California.
Bela will be laid to rest at St. John's Catholic Cemetery: 17871 Carrolton Road Escalon, California.
