Colton Scott Clifford

Colton Scott Clifford was born in Kearney, Nebraska, and spent his childhood in the Midwest, though he always claimed Texas as home. From an early age, it was clear that Colton possessed a remarkable intelligence and an insatiable curiosity. He could often be found with a book, reading it cover to cover in a single sitting, eager to understand the world around him. He carried that same curiosity throughout his life, always asking questions, learning something new, and diving deeply into the things that interested him.

Following in the footsteps of his parents, Colton built a career in the rendering industry, dedicating nearly 20 years to the work. His career eventually brought him to Sonoma County, where his life changed in the most meaningful way when he met Meggan. The two married in 2018 and built a life together filled with love, laughter, and three boys who became the center of Colton's world.

Colton's greatest joy was being a father. He poured himself into his boys and made each of them feel deeply known and loved. He embraced their individual personalities and interests, creating special traditions and memories along the way. Saturday mornings were for golfing with Sam. Ethan had his special “kitchen helper” nights with Dad. And with baby Dax, Colton could often be found singing the chorus to “What's Up”, and teaching him how to ride a scooter. These seemingly simple moments were never simple to Colton, they were opportunities to be present, to connect, and to make his boys feel special.

Colton brought a deep inquisitiveness to everything he encountered. Whether he was operating a boiler at work, learning about space and the mysteries of black holes, or mastering every Texas Tech football fact, he wanted to understand it. He was an excellent cook who loved bold flavors and, especially, food that was spicy. Above all else, Colton was a husband, a father, a son, and a brother. His greatest legacy will not be found in his career or accomplishments, but in the love he gave his family and the memories he created with them. He leaves behind three boys who will grow up knowing how deeply their dad loved them, and a wife who was grateful to share a life with him.

Colton is survived by his wife, Meggan Clifford; his three sons, Sam Anthony Clifford, Ethan James Clifford, and Dax Everrett Clifford; his parents, James and Amber Clifford; and his sisters, Alisha Clifford, Allison Baker, Erin Reynolds, and Lamia Tabbaa. He was predeceased by his younger sister, Averi Clifford.

Colton's life was defined by curiosity, humor, intelligence, and an immense capacity to love. His time with his family was far too short, but the love he gave them will remain with them always. His boys will carry his stories, his lessons, his laughter, and his love with them as they grow and in all the little moments that remind them of Dad, Colton will always be there.
